the industrial garden

"Industrielles Gartenreich" ("Kingdom of Industrial Gardens") is a project of Bauhaus Dessau. This undertaking, which started in 1989, explores a conscious relation to the landscape surrounding Dessau. The special appeal of this region is found in the symbiosis between the classical gardens of Duke Franz which have been reshaped by mining and chemical industry over the years and the fragments left behind by the Bauhaus school. The numerous photographs realised within this project have been published in the book "IGR II" and in form of a calendar.
